Itโs been quite some time since the Detroit Tigers had a bonafide ace leading their rotation, and now, as we enter the end of September, that ace is sitting atop the AL Cy Young odds board. Meanwhile, in the NL, the Braves have had their fair share of premier arms throughout the years, but current NL Cy Young favorite Chris Sale is looking to become the first since 1998 to win the award.
To stay current on the latest movements in the AL and NL Cy Young race, follow the odds from all of the top Pennsylvania sports betting apps below.

Tarik Skubal (Detroit Tigers): Before July 4th, Skubal had slipped into second on the odds board in some shops, but that did not last long, as he is now the heavy favorite. The lefty racked up seven strikeouts over five innings against the Royals in his most recent start, which gives him 221 in 185 innings this season.
Following his start against KC, he is pitching to a 2.53 FIP and 2.85 xFIP. With numbers like that, it's no surprise Skubal has built a big lead for himself on the oddsboard.
Emmanuel Clase (Cleveland Guardians): There is no denying that Clase has been the best closer in baseball this season. Making it this high on the odds board for the Cy Young is an awe-inspiring feat for a reliever, but when you see Clase's numbers, it makes sense as to why he's shot up the board after already locking down AL Reliever of the Year in July. In 71.1 innings, Clase has racked up 64 strikeouts on the way to a .63 ERA and 46 saves.
Seth Lugo (Kansas City Royals): Lugo may have quietly been one of the best offseason acquisitions made. In 32 starts this season, the veteran right-hander is pitching to a 3.03 ERA with 178 strikeouts in 204.2 innings. While those numbers may not be enough to get him this award, they have helped Kansas City secure their first winning season since they won the World Series.

Chris Sale (Atlanta Braves): Between injuries and inconsistency, Chris Sale's best days as a starter looked to be behind him during the tail end of his Red Sox career. However, that has proven far from the case, as the lefty has rediscovered his Cy Young caliber form. In 177.2 innings this season, Sale has racked up 225 strikeouts with a 2.09 FIP and 2.65 xFIP.
Zack Wheeler (Philadelphia Phillies): During the season, Wheeler made 30 starts, and only three stood out as bad outings. Outside of those starts, he has been stellar for the first place Phillies. After getting hit hard by the Yankees at the end of July, the right-hander has responded with ten outings in which he's allowed two or fewer earned runs.
Following his most recent start against the Mets, Wheeler is in the 92nd percentile in expected batting average and has pitched to a 3.14 FIP and 3.37 xFIP in 193.2 innings this season.
Paul Skenes (Pittsburgh Pirates): Before the 2024 MLB season, Paul Skenes was buried at the bottom of the odds board for NL Rookie of the Year. Now, the former #1 pick is sitting in third on the odds board for the Cy Young in every shop except FanDuel.
At the end of the day, if you put the hype surrounding him aside, he is currently boasting a 1.99 ERA, 2.57 xFIP, and 167 strikeouts in 131 innings of work. The flamethrower is a heated battle for the NL Rookie of the Year, and from the looks of it, his best chance at winning a Cy Young may be next year when he gets his first full season in the big leagues.
