Stephen Vogt (Cleveland Guardians): Vogt has long been identified as a player who would make a great manager, and so far, he is living up to that reputation. In his first season at the helm with the Guardians, the former catcher took his team into the All-Star break with a 4.5-game lead in the AL Central. If Vogt can guide his team through the gauntlet of a schedule they have for the second half of the season, then he'll put himself in a good spot to win this award.
Alex Cora (Boston Red Sox): The Red Sox did not come into the season with high expectations, but as we start the second half of the season, they are in possession of the final AL Wild Card spot. While this may be one of the least talented Red Sox teams we've seen in years, Cora has his team battling on a nightly basis, which may help them stay in the postseason race until the end of the season.
Matt Quatraro (Kansas City Royals): In his second season as the Royals' manager, Quatraro's team tied the best record in club history through 50 games. Kansas City has been in rebuild mode since their run of postseason appearances, but with Bobby Witt Jr. leading the charge, KC is just two games back of the final AL Wild Card spot. To make things even better for Quatraro, the Royals are boasting one of the best starting rotations in baseball.

Pat Murphy (Milwaukee Brewers): The Brewers lost their manager to a divisional rival this offseason, but Murphy has not allowed his club to fade because of that. Murphy's club is currently sitting in first place in the NL Central with a 4.5-game lead and is currently ranked 8th in average runs per game with 4.80 and 7th in average runs allowed per game at 3.99.
Rob Thomson (Philadelphia Phillies): Since taking over for Joe Girardi a few years back, Thomson has led the Phillies deep into the postseason twice, and it looks as if he can do it a third time this season. Philadelphia is sitting in first place in the NL East, and with the pitching staff Thomson has, it will be tough to knock them out of that position. While Murphy may have the slight edge for the award due to the narrative of this being his first season, if Thomson's club can keep winning, then he will make the decision tough on voters.
Carlos Mendoza (New York Mets): Much like the Red Sox, the New York Mets came into this season with low expectations, but with Mendoza leading the charge, NY is hanging around in the Wild Card race. Entering the second half of the season, the Mets hold a one-game lead over the final Wild Card spot, and while I don't expect them to be big buyers at the deadline, they do have a lot of young talent they could bring up to help them secure a postseason bid.
