2024-25 NBA Sixth Man of the Year Odds

Having depth off the bench is vital for all successful NBA teams. As we saw during the 2023-24 season, the Sixth Man of the Year, Naz Reid, played a vital part in getting the Timberwolves to the Western Conference Finals. While Reid might be a tough player to take the award from next season, you never know who could take the next step in their development.

Despite being the reigning award winner, Reid has opened with the second-best odds to win 6MOY, so we'll break down who is favored, along with the prices for all of the other top bench players in the league.

Current Favorites

Malik Monk (+450 to +475): Over the past two seasons, Malik Monk has really settled into his 6th man role with the Sacramento Kings. Monk's acceptance of being the scoring threat off the bench has led to him finishing 5th and 2nd in 6MOY voting over the past two seasons. In fact, he was just two first-place votes behind Naz Reid this past season, as he averaged 15.4 points and 5.1 assists per game.

The two biggest things that likely kept Monk from winning the award in 2023-24 were his defense and three-point percentage. Monk had 1.6 defensive win shares, which was well behind Reid's total of 3.8, and he also shot 35% from three.

Naz Reid (+600 to +650): Reid has almost a cult following of Timberwolves fans, and with how he played this past season, that is not very surprising. The reigning 6MOY shot 41% from three on the way to a career-high 13.5 points per game. Not to mention, he also averaged 5.2 rebounds and .9 blocks per game, which is a good representation of how well he can impact the game on both ends of the floor.

Jordan Clarkson (+1100): Clarkson won 6MOY back in 2020-21, as he has remained one of the best bench-scoring options in the league. After starting every game in the 22-23 season, Clarkson returned to his sixth-man role this past year and averaged 17.1 points per game while dishing out a career-high 5.0 assists per game.

As strong as his scoring numbers look on paper, they mainly stemmed from volume this past year and not efficiency. Clarkson averaged 5.6 three-point attempts per game but shot just 29% from deep, so if you mix that with his player efficiency rating of 12.7, it's not much of a shock that he did not receive a single vote for 6MOY in 2023-24.
