The fourth and final major of each PGA Tour season is the Open Championship or British Open. On July 13, 2025, all of the premier golfers in the world will tee off at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland. The last time the Open Championship was played at this course was in 2019, so there is a solid group of players who have competed at this course before, including Shane Lowry, who won the event back in 2019.
That said, the Open Championship and its elements can hinder the games of many elite players, so even with experience on the course, a lot can happen. We'll break down the betting odds to win the 2025 British Open across the top betting apps for golf.

Scottie Scheffler: The current #1 player in the world has competed in four Open Championships, and while he hasn't finished worse than T23, he has also never finished T5 or better. His best performance was this past event when he finished T7 at Royal Troon. The 2025 event will bring Scheffler yet another course he has not played on, but if he can continue to be consistent in all four rounds as he did in 2024, he should remain near the top of the leaderboard.
Rory McIlroy: In his career, McIlroy has competed in the Open Championship 15 times. Out of those 15 events, McIlroy has missed the cut just three times. The only problem is that one of those times was at Royal Portrush in 2019, and the most recent time was in 2024 after he shot a 78 in the first round and 75 in the second round.
Xander Schauffele: The Open Championship always seems to bring the best out of Schauffele, and that was especailly the case in 2024, as he won the event by finishing (-9) and having just one round where he went over 69. In seven British Open's, Schauffele has T20 or better in five of them, with his worst finish coming in 2019 at Royal Portrush when he shot two over par and finished T41.
