PrizePicks Sportsbook App Review:

prizepicks screenshot

From its initial launch back in 2015 to now, PrizePicks has grown into one of the most well-known and most used DFS products on the market. The app can be downloaded in 29 different states, as well as in D.C. and Canada. Players must be 19 years or older to download and use the product, except in Arizona and Massachusetts, where the user must be 21 or older.

The app can be downloaded from either the App Store or Google Play Store, and the product can also be accessed through its web platform. In the DFS market today, this app is one of the most commonly used and talked about, which is made obvious when you see that it has over 100k downloads from just the Google Play Store alone.

For anyone looking to get into DFS, this product is very user friendly and features a layout that makes learning the ropes a very quick and straightforward process. It also helps that it has something for everyone, as users can find contests and games revolving around all the major sports, amongst other niche markets.

Competitive odds and events can be found daily on this product, as users have the ability to find lines for all things, including even NFL Draft Combine 40-yard dash times. The one area that is lacking a bit is the payment methods, as users only have the choice of four different ways they can fund their accounts.

Available Sports, Leagues, And Contests

The basis of PrizePicks revolves around “squares,” as each player will receive a different square for a given market, and the customer's goal is to select whether they will go over or under that given total. There are no drafts or lineups that can be made on this product, as all users need to do is select 2-6 different squares and their pick for each, and the more picks in a given ticket, the better the payout will be.

All of the contests are short-term contests, so every day bettors will find new odds and player lines for that specific day's games and events. Within each league or sport, users can find a wide range of markets to choose from for example, in basketball, customers can find squares for points, rebounds, assists, three-pointers, fantasy points, and more.

Other sports and leagues that can be found include the MLB, NFL, NHL, NCAA football and basketball, tennis, golf, cricket, e-sports, motorsports, and more. Within each of those given sports or leagues, customers will find consistently updating player odds and markets. Special events can also be found on the product, for example, NBA All-Star Weekend or the World Baseball Classic.

Flex Play

If customers prefer to not have everything be all or nothing when it comes to making tickets, then they could select flex play contests. These contests will give less of a payout if all of the selections made are successful, but it also allows users to get one pick wrong and still receive a payout.

For example, in a four-pick ticket, users would only need to hit three out of four in order to receive a payout. If three out of four picks were the outcome, then the user would receive 1.5x the entry free, and if all four picks were hit, then users would receive 5x the entry fee. There is a chance to win an even bigger payout with the power pick, which we’ll cover next.

Power Play

Much like in sports betting, where a parlay is all or nothing, that is the same premise for the power play contests. If customers want to go all in with their picks, then selecting power play is what is best for them. This option limits tickets to just four selections as opposed to the six a user could make with a flex play.

An example of a power play would be selecting Joe Burrow, Justin Herbert, Daniel Jones, and Jared Goff to all go over their passing yards total one week. If all four picks were to hit, then users would get a payout of 10x the entry fee, but if three out of four hits, then the user would get nothing.

PrizePicks Payment And Withdrawal Options

The overall selection of payment methods is one of the very few areas in which PrizePicks is lacking as a product. Currently, the app only accepts four different payment options, which doesn’t stack up well with the rest of the DFS market. Those methods include bank transfers, PayPal, Discover Cards, and Visa credit/debit cards. These are not bad options by any means, but general online banking and a few big e-wallet accounts are noticeably not available.

All of the methods that can be selected have a minimum deposit of $10. In order for a customer to receive a withdrawal, they must first have a one-time playthrough of their initial deposit and new customer reward. Once a user completes that and requests a withdrawal, they will receive an email with a code that is needed to complete the process. If both of those things are taken care of then, the user should receive their withdrawal within 48 hours.

The maximum amount a customer can withdraw in seven days is $1,000. Outside of the limited options, the overall payment process is very smooth and simple on both the app and website, no matter what payment method is used.

Downloading The PrizePicks Fantasy App

The PrizePicks app can be downloaded from either the App Store or Google Play Store. In both places, the product has stellar reviews as it has a 4.8 out of 5-star rating on the App Store and a 4.6 out of 5-star rating on the Google Play Store. Those reviews certainly don’t come from a small sample size either, as the product is listed to have over 100K downloads on Android alone.

In terms of the actual app, the product has a very simple layout that makes the product incredibly user-friendly and easy to navigate. With a product that has a ton of different areas to choose from and explore, the overall speed and responsiveness of the app were very impressive on IOS and granted us the ability to have prolonged sessions without crashing or lagging.

With how many different areas daily fantasy products cover and the number of players and markets offered, we’ve noticed that some apps can be disorganized, but this app makes the DFS process very smooth through its appearance. The product is more than usable for customers who may be new to fantasy sports or experienced DFS users.

Web Platform

The PrizePicks website has an identical layout to the mobile version of the product, which makes navigating it very simple. Much like the app, the web platform is very user-friendly and makes all DFS sessions very efficient. There is no searching and guessing about where different sports or players are, and the “betslip” area makes building entries very organized.

In terms of responsiveness, we had no issues with freezing or lagging, no matter how much time we spent on the platform in a given session. Overall if people prefer to have a wider display in terms of DFS sessions, this platform is more than usable and beneficial for all levels of DFS users.

Overall User Experience - Summary: PrizePicks

After spending time with the PrizePicks app, we find it to be one of the best DFS products on the market. We were thoroughly impressed by the overall selection of leagues, players, and markets that could be chosen. It also helps that all of those things can be easily found and navigated since the app and website are both very user-friendly and laid out in a way that makes learning how to use the app a straightforward process.

The ability to be worthwhile for both new and experienced DFS players is an excellent way to judge a product, and this app passed that test with flying colors. The new and existing customer promotions stack well against the rest of the DFS market, and the community feel they have created through Discord and Twitter speaks to how much the product wants to appease their customers.

The main area we would like to improve is more payment options. Adding more payment methods could make it much easier for new customers to get started and play to an even wider audience. Doing so could cement this product as one of the most commonly used DFS products.
