The UConn Huskies have sat atop the college basketball world for the past two seasons, but after winning their second consecutive National Title, most sportsbooks have the Kansas Jayhawks favored to knock the Huskies off their throne.
While the odds are already out, teams still have time to upgrade their rosters before the 2024-25 season tips off. Here, we’ll track the updated odds from now until another champion is crowned.

Kansas Jayhawks: In the age of the transfer portal, rosters change by the second, but as the great CBB Twitter personality Trilly Donovan would say, “Sometimes the best gets are the ones you already have.” That is the case for the Kansas Jayhawks entering next season, as they will be getting Hunter Dickinson back for one more year.
Dickinson's veteran presence only adds to the fact that the Jayhawks have also been able to add AJ Storr, Zeke Mayo, and Ryland Griffin through the portal. Sure, the Jayhawks are losing a few guys to the NBA Draft, but they are also adding two talented freshmen, including five-star center Flory Bidunga. With their current roster construction, it is no surprise that most oddsmakers view the Jayhawks as the slight favorites.
UConn Huskies: Dan Hurley has lifted the National Championship Trophy over his head the past two seasons, but doing it for a third time will not be easy. The Huskies will lose Donovan Clingan, Stephon Castle, Cam Spencer, Alex Karaban, and Tristen Newton to the NBA Draft.
Losing all of that production is going to be incredibly difficult for the Huskies to overcome, but they do have a promising recruiting and transfer class coming in. Not only did the Huskies get a late commitment from five-star Liam McKneeley, but they also received a transfer commitment from star point guard Aidan Mahaney.
Duke Blue Devils: There is one person every college basketball fan is excited to see next season, and that person is Cooper Flagg. The number-one recruit in his class has received a ton of hype and is considered the expected number-one pick in the 2025 Draft.
Flagg will also be joined by three other five-star recruits, two four-star recruits, and three big-name transfers, including Maliq Brown from Syracuse. While the Blue Devils lost their fair share of players to the draft and portal, their current roster could be one of the best they’ve had in years.
