2024 Men's Olympic Basketball Odds

After a fun and exciting tournament, the gold medal is officially on the line for Men's basketball, with Team USA taking on host nation France. The U.S. team needed a big fourth-quarter comeback in the semi-finals, but now they are just one win away from defending the gold for the fifth straight Olympics.

In the words of a teenager, the U.S. national team is "stacked," and now they need to finish the job against France. With that, we'll be taking a look at the odds for both teams in the gold medal game across all of the top sportsbooks in the United States.

USA (-1400 to -2200): For three quarters against Serbia, it looked as if Team USA may be missing out on the Gold Medal game for the first time since 2004. Luckily, thanks to a strong fourth quarter in which LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and Joel Embiid rose to the occasion, the US National Team has the chance to win their fifth straight gold medal with a win over France.

There is no guessing what the lineup for their gold medal matchup could look like since Steve Kerr has rotated guys in and out of the lineup consistently based on who he thinks matches up the best with their opponent. One thing that is for sure, regardless of who plays, is that Team USA needs to look to attack the paint more. Sure, France has Victor Wembanyama down low, but in the semi-finals, the US attempted more threes than they did twos, which is partially what hindered them for the first three quarters.

France (+760 to +1100): After losing by 14 to Germany in the final game of group play, the host nation bounced back and avenged that loss in the semi-finals with a 73-69 win. France has been a bit inconsistent this tournament, but their defense shined through in the semis, holding Germany to a 40% field goal percentage and 29% three-point percentage.

Like most of the tournament, though, France's biggest question heading into the gold medal game is their offense. Not only did they shoot 22% from three in the semi-finals, but their best player and nucleus, Victor Wembanyama, went 4-17 from the field against Germany, while Rudy Gobert has essentially been benched. While I'm sure France will have guys step up against the U.S., it is likely they focus most of their gameplan on creating offense through their defense.
