Who Should You Back in the Best NHL Game of the Night?

A 10-game NHL slate tonight is highlighted by the Boston Bruins heading to Tampa Bay to take on the Lightning. Both teams are playing at an incredibly high level and enter tonight on win streaks. We’ll break down the game and what side you should be backing in this one.

The Boston Bruins come into tonight on a six-game winning streak and with a record of 16-2, while the Tampa Bay Lightning have won four games in a row and have an 11-6-0-1 record so someone will be ending a winning streak tonight. Both teams have been very impressive both on offense and defense so this match-up will truly feature the best against the best.

Over their six-game win streak, the Bruins have outscored their opponents 24-7. On the offensive end, the Bruins are led by David Pastrnak who has 28 points and 11 goals on the season.

Bruins goaltender Linus Ullmark has a .936 save percentage in 14 games this season which is ranked first in the league. Ullmark is also only allowing an average of 1.89 goals per game so between Pastrnak and Ullmark’s play it is no surprise this Bruins team has only lost two games.

Tampa Bay also possesses a top goaltender in Andrei Vasilevskiy who has a .909 save percentage and has the ability to stop any high-powered offense. It should be interesting to see what team can find the back of the net first in this one.

The Lightning are led by Nikita Kucherov and Steven Stamkos when it comes to scoring, as Kucherov enters tonight with 28 points and Stamkos enters with 10 goals. If anyone can match the Bruins right now it’s the Lightning, however, the betting handle indicates people are not sold on the Lightning in this one.

The Bruins are frankly too good right now to bet against and more specifically Linus Ullmark is playing at too high of a level to bet against. Despite how talented Vasilevskiy is, right now I think Ullmark gives his team the best chance to win. The Lightning may be on a four-game win streak but they have allowed a combined 10 goals in those games and this Boston team has been able to score at will all season.

When you look at the stats for both teams they are fairly close in all categories but Boston’s offense has the edge in all of them. Charlie McAvoy has been playing at the top of his game as of late and I think he’ll play a big factor in leading this Bruins team to a victory tonight.
