Week 9 of the NFL season closes out tonight with the (5-3) Baltimore Ravens heading to New Orleans to take on the (3-5) Saints. The Saints will be looking to climb back into the NFC South divisional race as the Ravens look to build on their first-place lead in the AFC North. In Sunday’s NFL action I went 4-1 for +2.56 units and have two more plays tonight in the form of prop bets as we look to head into week 10 on a high note.
For my first best bet I’ll be targeting Saints running back Alvin Kamara and his receiving yards prop. The number is currently set at 37.5 yards in a majority of the sportsbooks and I like him to go over this total tonight.
Ever since Andy Dalton took over as quarterback for the Saints, Kamara has seen a spike in all of his receiving stats, and tonight this duo will be taking on one of the worst pass defenses in the league in the Ravens. Entering tonight’s game the Ravens pass defense ranks 28th in the league in average passing yards allowed per game and 22nd in the league in average yards per pass. New Orleans enters this week passing the ball on 57.1% of their offensive plays, setting up a good matchup for their offense.
This bodes well for both the Saints and sports bettors, especially with Kamara coming off last week's game in which he has 96 receiving yards. Since Dalton has become the starting quarterback Kamara has gone over his receiving yards prop in three out of the four games and enters this week averaging 47.8 receiving yards per game. It seems as if the Saints play-callers like to take all the pressure off Dalton by setting up short routes to Kamara to establish the passing game.
Kamara hasn’t had less than six receptions in a game since October 9th and last week he hauled in nine passes on the day. Andy Dalton has usually struggled in primetime too so getting the ball out of his hands quickly and into Kamara’s hands should be in the game plan. The over here at the price of (-115) in some sportsbooks is too good to pass up.
My second best bet will also target another receiving prop but this time on the Ravens side. Tight-end Isaiah Likely is (-113) on FanDuel Sportsbook to go over 40.5 receiving yards and I really like that value and number.
The Ravens will be without starting tight-end Mark Andrews for the second straight week so Likely will be getting another opportunity to start and see a larger share of targets. In his first start in last week's game against the Buccaneers, Likely has 6 receptions on 7 targets and went for 77 yards with a touchdown. It’s clear the Ravens and Lamar Jackson like utilizing Likely’s athletic ability and aren’t afraid to rely on the rookie.
New Orleans enters this week allowing 25 points per game which is ranked 26th in the league so it will be a tough test for them to stop Lamar Jackson’s ability to create with his legs and arm. Jackson should be able to expose this Saints defense for some explosive plays downfield and I think Likely has the chance of being involved in them.
Alvin Kamara Over 37.5 receiving yards (-115)
Isaiah Likely Over 40.5 receiving yards (-113)
