Another week of the NFL season closes out tonight with an NFC East showdown between the Washington Commanders heading to Philadelphia to take on the undefeated Eagles. This Commanders team has looked way better since Taylor Heinicke took over at quarterback for an injured Carson Wentz, so we’ll see if he can rally his team and hand the Eagles their first loss of the season. I’ve got two prop bets for tonight’s action so let’s get right into them.
The first player we’ll be targeting is Commanders running back Brian Robinson and the over for his rushing prop. Right now the best sportsbooks to find the total at 33.5 is BetMGM and DraftKings, however, if you can only get this total at 34.5 in another shop I would still make the play.
Since his return from injury, Robinson has gotten the bulk of the carries in the Commanders rush attack. In the last four weeks, Robinson has gotten at least 13 attempts in three of those games, and he went over his rushing total in all three of those games as well. Washington is handing the ball off an average of 26.6 times a game so there is a good chance Robinson’s usage is high again tonight.
Despite the undefeated start to the season the Eagles have struggled at times to limit their opponent's running game. Philadelphia's defense is allowing an average of 5.2 yards per carry which is 28th in the league and shows Robinson has the chance to rack up yards after contact tonight. The Eagles are coming off a win against the Houston Texans, a game in which they allowed 168 rushing yards to the team with the worst record in the NFL.
Philadelphia has been stellar in pass defense this season so Washington won’t be able to let Heinicke try to drop back and throw all game, they will need to rely on their running game at first to open up the passing attack. This rushing total is a bit low considering Robinson’s workload and Philadelphia’s rush defense so I like the over for the first bet of the night.
There are plenty of ways to go when looking for an Eagles prop bet due to how explosive their offense has been but tonight I’ll be targeting Dallas Goedert’s receiving yards prop. Goedert over 45.5 receiving yards at (-114) can be found on FanDuel Sportsbook, but if this number is up to 46.5 in your sportsbook of preference I still think it’s worth the bet.
Goedert is an integral part of this Eagles offense and arguably Jalen Hurts second favorite target behind A.J Brown. The Philadelphia tight end is averaging five receptions a game this season and is coming off a game in which he had eight. It always seems as if Goedert can find the soft spot in the opponent’s defense and end up open a majority of the time.
This would explain how he is averaging 65.13 yards per game and has gone over his receiving yards prop in six of the eight games he’s had one set for him. The Commanders' pass defense is coming off a loss in which they allowed 245 passing yards and will be in for a challenge today against Jalen Hurts. Goedert should have no problem getting targets tonight and making his presence felt all game.
