Matvei Michkov (Philadelphia Flyers): When the Flyers drafted Michkov in the 2023 NHL Draft, they received a lot of praise. However, the only problem was that no one really knew when the 19-year-old Russian phenom would come over to the U.S. and join the team. Luckily for the Flyers faithful, they only had to wait one season as Philadelphia was able to sign Michkov to a three-year entry-level deal at the end of June.
Michkov has recorded 13 points on seven assists and six goals through 15 career games. The Flyers' young star did receive the first healthy scratch of his NHL career, but he did not let it affect him, as he's scored a goal in two straight games.
Logan Stankoven (Dallas Stars): Of the three players favored to win the 2024-25 Calder Trophy, Logan Stankoven is the only one who has gotten a taste of the league. The 21-year-old second-round pick from 2021 played in 24 regular-season games and 19 playoff games. Stankoven more than proved he could be a star for the Dallas Stars, picking up 14 regular-season points while also scoring three postseason goals on his way to eight playoff points. In 15 games to start the 2024-25 season, Stankoven has recorded ten assists and four goals.
Macklin Celebrini (San Jose Sharks): In his first NHL game, Macklin Celebrini tucked away his first career goal and assist. However, the number one pick would also suffer an ankle injury that has forced him to miss around two weeks. Celebrini would return from that injury on November 5th, and in that game, he went on to play 17 minutes and record three shots on goal. In total, Celebrini has played six games, and in that span, he has scored four points on three goals and one assist.
