For the third time in four years, Nikola Jokic was named the NBA MVP. The big man is on a historic run with this award, similar to the one that LeBron James had over it during the mid-2000s. While Jokic continually produces absurd numbers, the talent pool in the NBA is arguably the best it's been, so plenty of worthy candidates are worth a look as we move through the early portion of the season.

*odds as of November 14, 2024
Nikola Jokic (Denver Nuggets)(+220 to +225): After opening the season 2-3 through the first five games, Nikola Jokic has slowly gotten the Nuggets back on track. In ten games this season, Jokic is averaging 29.7 points, 13.7 rebounds, and 11.7 assists per game. While Jokic is 5th in scoring, he is the league leader in rebounds and assists, which has shot him back to the top of the odds board, where he has lived for most of the last four seasons.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (OKC Thunder)(+250 to +275): Many expect the OKC Thunder to be one of the top teams in the Western Conference this season, but ultimately, they will only go as far as SGA takes them. The former Kentucky Wildcat finished second in MVP voting last season after averaging 30.1 points and 6.2 assists per game. The scary part about SGA is that it still feels like he can get even better, which is a frightening thought for the rest of the league. To start the 2024-25 season, SGA is averaging 27.9 points, 6.3 assists, and 5.5 rebounds per game, as his Thunder are 10-2 on the year.
Jayson Tatum (Boston Celtics)(+550): The Boston Celtics made it clear on Opening Night that they are in hot pursuit of consecutive titles. The Celtics offense looks nearly impossible to defend, and Tatum is a big reason for that. Tatum has looked highly motivated to start the 2024-25 season after what transpired in the NBA Finals and Olympics, as he is currently 3rd in the league in scoring with an average of 30.2 points per game to go along with 7.6 rebounds per game.
