Becoming a World Series champion is the goal for all MLB teams, but winning a pennant is nothing to brush off. Before teams can fight for a World Series ring, they must first complete the pennant in their respective league, which is another bragging point for fans arguing which franchise is historically better.
Below, weโll look at the updated odds for each team to win the AL or NL across all the top sportsbooks in Arizona.

New York Yankees | +400 | -850 | -800 | -800 | -800 |
Cleveland Guardians | +3000 | +550 | +550 | +550 | +550 |
*odds as of October 17, 2024
New York Yankees: The Yankees remain the favorite to win the AL, as they started their postseason with a win over the Royals. New York would ride that momentum into the first two games of the ALCS, building a 2-0 lead over the Guardians. The Yankees will look to close out the series in Cleveland, and they'll rely on Clarke Schmidt and Luis Gil on the mound. New York will also hope that Aaron Judge's home run in game two is enough to break him out of his slump.
Cleveland Guardians: With their backs against the wall, the Guardians' offense broke out of their mini-slump to help propel the team into the ALCS. A grand slam from Lane Thomas off Tarik Skubal helped ward off the Tigers' scrappy offense, but Cleveland could not produce the same level of offense in games one and two of the ALCS. Aside from their offense, Cleveland will need to clean up their defensive miscues if they want any chance of working their way back into this series.

Los Angeles Dodgers | +275 | -380 | -360 | -380 | -350 |
New York Mets | +1100 | +300 | +280 | +300 | +270 |
*odds as of October 17, 2024
Los Angeles Dodgers: In Shohei Ohtani's first playoff game, he proved the postseason would not be too much pressure for him, as he launched his first career playoff home run. However, after taking game one, the Dodgers could not overcome the Padres lineup in games two and three. With their backs against the wall, LA stole games four and five. The Dodgers would also carry that momentum into game one over the Mets, but it would not continue into game two, as their pitching staff lost their 33-scoreless inning streak on the first batter of the game. It did not take long for them to build a new streak, though, as LA shut out the Mets in game three to build a 2-1 lead.
New York Mets: The Mets have gone from barely making the playoffs to reaching the NLCS. With another convincing win over the Phillies, the Mets have reached the NLCS for the first time since 2015. After securing their spot, New York struggled in game one against the Dodgers, as their lineup and pitching staff laid an egg in game one. While New York was able to respond in game two, they were unable to carry that momentum to Citi Field, falling 9-0 in game three.
