If there is one thing that is true for every MLB team, they are in for a marathon season. The best teams will go through cold streaks, while the bad teams will go on winning streaks, but at the end of the day, the goal is to reach the World Series.

Before teams reach the Fall Classic, though, they must reach the playoffs. Here, weโ€™ll look at the odds for each team to reach the postseason with prices from all the top sportsbooks, including FanDuel Sportsbook.

Update as of June 17, 2024

Every once in a while, a team will luck out and just be the best team in a bad division during a given year. The Seattle Mariners are in no way a bad team, but they have the lowest percentage amongst first-place teams in the AL. However, Seattle also holds the biggest lead for an American League team as they currently sit 8.5 games ahead of the second-place Rangers.

Over the past ten games, the Mariners are the only team in the AL West to play over .500 baseball during that stretch. Interestingly enough, the Dodgers are in a similar position in the NL West. Sure, LA was favored by a wide margin to win the division, but not one other team in the division has a winning record at the moment.

With the Dodgers losing Mookie Betts for a while due to a fractured hand, they could not be in a more ideal situation. Meanwhile, the rest of the NL West still has a chance to sneak into the postseason, as the current NL Wild Card race has seven teams that, at most, are within 1.5 games of the final wild card position.

Update as of June 10, 2024

One of the biggest talking points heading into this season was how good the AL East was going to be. While the Yankees and Orioles have held up their end of that, the Rays and Blue Jays have greatly underperformed expectations. After being one of the best regular season teams in baseball last season, the Rays are currently 14 games back of first place in the division.

The Rays are not the only playoff team from last season that has struggled to get going this season. Both the Rangers and Astros are currently below .500 and at least three games back from the final wild-card spot in the AL.
